The KringloopWijzer provides dairy farmers with insight into the environmental and climate performance of their farm, enabling them to optimize nutrient utilization and improve farm efficiency. The calculation methods used within KringloopWijzer are scientifically validated. Its ongoing development and maintenance are funded by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) and ZuivelNL. Dairy farmers are required to submit the KringloopWijzer annually for the previous calendar year. The submission deadline is determined by the milk purchaser.

These figures and alerts are primarily used to support the monitoring and implementation of quality assurance programmes, sustainability programmes, and certification schemes.
What data is included?
For each dairy farm, this endpoint provides a range of assurance key figures and alerts, including:
- Herd key figures
- Milk key figures
- Feed key figures
- Fertilizer key figures
- Feed batch composition or value outside threshold limits
- Calculated crop yield outside threshold limits
- Verification required for the number of animals introduced to the farm
- Recorded energy consumption appears unusually high
- No specific CO₂ value provided for a feed batch

For each dairy farm, this endpoint provides a range of key figures that are essential for measuring nutrient cycling performance at farm level, including:
- Nitrogen Use Efficiency - The percentage of nitrogen that is utilized efficiently within the farming operation.
- Phosphate Use Efficiency - Indicates how effectively phosphate is utilized relative to phosphate inputs.
- Carbon Balance - Provides insight into carbon sequestration and carbon emissions, which are important for soil health and climate impact.
- Greenhouse Gas Emissions per kg of Milk - The amount of CO₂-equivalent emissions per kilogram of milk produced, reflecting the farm’s carbon footprint.
- Forage Yield and Quality - The amount of forage produced per hectare, expressed in kilograms of dry matter and energy value (VEM), supporting assessment of feed self-sufficiency.
